The haunting blue of this flower has captivated me since the first time I saw it. It is a biennual which means it comes up the first year after germination, gathers energy from the sun, blooms the second year, then goes to seed and dies.

Thanks, Alan. Those inner flowers are goldenrod. They both bloom at the end of the summer and beginning of fall in midwestern prairies.

Well that just sucks that it dies after the bloom , but at least it seeds for more to grow as they are gorgeous & your shot is too! Love the Goldenrod mixed in, natures bouquet!
