Out To Sea At Sunset

My job has allowed me the good fortune to travel to Norway, a simply spectacularly scenic country. On this trip I took an extra day, rented a car, and drove to the small island of Kvaløya. The locals do not even consider this area to be particularly scenic, but I found it to be a wonderful location, once I got used to the one lane wide roads that passed for highways up in the region

I found a number of interesting scenes to shoot during the day, and then started scouting for a good sunset location. I eventually found this view looking down a west facing fjord to the sea, and took many images of it. Once I sorted through them all, this was my favorite exposure/composition combo of the bunch.

I have heard that even though Iceland is the big photography draw these days, the both Norway and Finland have a lot of areas that rival Iceland for being photogenic.

Nice work on this, and I like the way the color is kissing the clouds across the sky. A nice place for sunset.

Well I have been to both Iceland and Norway and I can say that both need to be on the bucket list for anyone loving to shoot scenic landscapes. I have been to Norway twice, the first trip managing a single 24 hour period of imaging at the end of my work schedule, and the 2nd time being able to front the work part of the trip with a week in the Lofoten Iskands area with my wife before my work stint started. And I was way north both times, so lots of great stuff farther south I have not seen yet.

Iceland was a 3 night extra layover when returning from a trip to Austria. Great visit but only barely scratched the surface of the country so will absolutely be going back there someday I hope. Both are jaw dropping for scenic views.

Thanks for the comments! Hard to see at this teduced size, but actually, the water is not iced over, it is showing wind patterns and the remnants of at least one boat wake, that created the interesting patterns.

Beautiful light and gorgeous location Mike.
I am thinking about those bushes, it feels a bit cut off to me, i would try either cropping or cropping and cloning out, it might make it stronger...
