Being watched rather closely too.

I don't think I ever saw many bald eagles in Utah - mostly golden eagles along the Wasatch Front.

Around here I've monitored wildlife for years now, just for my own selfish self interest in photography. I don't think anyone else does that around here because we're all about landscapes. I don't think anyone else is shooting wildlife.

They all have a season, then they are gone.

There are I think only three bald eagles out by the river. That's all I ever see every year, and only for a couple months. They are very elusive, but they've learned about people, it's hereditary and they are wary... So they will be there for two or three months, then realize there's not a lot happening here as far as food, since there is no spawning.. Then they'll go back up to Alaska or somewhere. The river's pretty dead, the main fish is catfish or suckers and they are bottom feeders.

Golden Eagles are a dime a dozen here and especially by Cisco or La Sal. They eat prairie dogs. Bald eagles want fish...

It took me a while to get used to seeing the bald eagles all the time when I first moved up to the NW but they are just about everywhere up here and so are the fish. There are a couple of nesting pairs within 2 aerial miles of where I live but so is the Columbia River.

It's like owls! I've never seen one here... I know there's a few though.

And then some people are out shooting them like crazy in other regions!

Pick more locally common targets - it's far less frustrating.......

Still quite nice when the unicorn shows up and you have your camera already mounted :D
