Winged Wednesday

For the fourth “Winged Wednesday,” I have selected one of my all-time favorite photos; a Red-tailed Hawk. Watching the red-tailed hawk flying low and banking closely in front of me was one of the most elegant natural phenomena I have ever experienced.

Mine are on the opposite side of the spectrum, bush tits gathered on my fountain last week.

I was shooting the terraces at Mammoth Hot Springs in Yellowstone last fall and this Killdeer kept photobombing all of my shots. Not quite sure what the killdeer are consuming but I did see quite a few that day lurking around the pools. It finally sank in that maybe I should shoot a portrait of this little guy since he was being so available.

Thanks Eric, It took me a long time to learn that it takes 1/300 second or faster to freeze the vibrating beak during song on these fellows.
