Rainier - The View from Paradise

When the mosquitos are out in force it's hard to really call the place Paradise but the trails above the lodge do provide some outstanding views of Mt. Rainier. By the time I got back to the lodge I was convinced that my insect repellant was the perfume of choice for the local skin diving population. This is a TS-E shifted panorama shot of the peak.

Very nice Alan. Was this recent? I have found a new bug spray that seems to work against the SE killer skeeters...will have to see if it works against the west coast villains.

Not a recent image - this one is from 2011. I also have some new bug sprays to try out next time I go up there a month from now. I will be curious to hear how well yours works. Between now and the first hard freezes is prime season for the little beasts.

I am hoping that there are at least a few straggler flowers left...weather has been cool so I am hoping they stick around...this bug spray has been effective on the monsters we have here...so hopefully it helps.

Wildflowers stick around until almost the end of September up there. Spring comes quite late and the flowers above Paradise Inn go pretty strong right through the middle of the month This shot was taken on Sept. 12 and doesn't show how extensive the wildflowers still were.

you just made my day...seriously...I was going to be heartbroken if I got there and they were all gone...

Nice one Alan. I can see a few of the little buggers in the sky on the left. The flower show was rather subdued when I was up there last week. There are still lots of flowers, but many look droopy, perhaps the dry summer?

Hmm - looks more like a dirty sensor/lens than mosquitos as I look back at the full sized version. Good eye. At least down in Vancouver we have had a slightly wetter than usual August. I guess that didn't extend farther north from here.
