I thought since I was on a role with my first post to the forum I would share another. Been exploring the area here since we retired and I have to say, I feel blessed that this area is only 20-30 minutes from our doorstep. This was a comp that I sat on the river bank thinking, perhaps a shot down stream, hence the title; "Down The Pipe!"

Like the water flow here against the fall color backdrop. The foreground rocks appear a little soft though.

You picked a nice place to retire to but now that you have spilled the beans on what kind of place you live in we will expect lots of seasonal updates on the scenery :)

Hey Garrick,

This is a pretty cool looking shot, it's quite the view to be looking down!

I do agree with Jameel, there is a bit of softness going on. When you down size for the web do you apply an additional light sharpening after? I have found that I have to do that with mine.

I like this. You picked a great time to catch the fall colors.
At this size, I'm not seeing the softness on the edges of the rocks.
Is this in the PNW?

Yes, it's in the Tumwater Canyon section of the Wenatchee River out of Leavenworth. :)

Jim, I have not applied additional sharpening upon down sizing. I have always found that any upload seems to do weird things compared to my original which I store as a .tif and looks good on my big monitor. Always looking to learn more tricks though :)

Cheers,

Yeah, the web does strange things....

For many years now when I downsize for the web I always apply a light UnsharpMask of about 20 to it after downsizing. It seems to help restore the sharpness back into the image. Try it, you will like it. :)

Thank you Jameel and Jim for bringing my attention to some softness in the image. I did a little adjustment to it here. Does it look better to your trained eye now?
