    Best of 2025

2025 was a year! I visited six different countries on four different continents (I include the USA and North America in that figure). The images below represent not only my favorite shots of the year, but also documentation of sorts of where I traveled. No. 1 - I spent a few days after New Year...

    Trying DXO PureRAW5

Thanks for pointing out the area, Kyle. I wasn't aware that the program is known to invent things in the shadows, so I'll keep that in mind and not run salvage jobs through it. The mountain is Kata Tjuta to the Anangu people, otherwise known as Mt. Olga. It's the other massive formation in...

    Trying DXO PureRAW5

Can you point out the details to me that you think the program invented?

    Trying DXO PureRAW5

The unprocessed image is too dark for display here so I've done nothing to this one except turn up the exposure. The pink you see is the color from the sunrise. It is indeed a weird landscape as the ground is red/orange and the trees really thin and wispy. Both Kata Tjuta and Uluru glow vibrantly!

    Trying DXO PureRAW5

This image of Kata Tjuta in Australia represents my first attempt using DXO PureRAW5. I then sent it to Photoshop where I made basic adjustments to light and color. For those of you more experienced with the DXO programs, what do you think of the editing job it helped produce? I just downloaded...

A Pano of a Rock Down Under

Fascinating is right! I felt full body goosebumps while walking along the base. The "energy" I felt reminded me of Monument Valley. It was upper 80s/low90s during our visit.

A Pano of a Rock Down Under

I recently had the privilege of spending 2 nights at Uluru - Kata Tjuta National Park in the center of Australia. This pano was taken shortly after my godfather and I landed at the two-gate airport. Both of us were absolutely giddy.

    More Eastern Sierra Fall Color

These Eastern Sierra fall color images are a mixture of the June Lake Loop and Conway Summit area in Mono County, CA from this past weekend before the snowstorm. I’ll see if I can go out this weekend to find fall color mixed with snow.

    Early light across Mt. Morrison

You just missed all the snow yesterday, Kurt! But you probably got plenty of it in Truckee.

Hot Creek to Mt. Morrison by moonlight

I take friends to this viewpoint when I play Eastern Sierra tour guide. The moon was SUPER bright a few nights ago. Nice job showing how bright it was, Kurt.

    McGee Creek Fall Colors

I took a walk along McGee Creek on Sunday in Mono County, CA, just south of Mammoth Lakes and was astonished by fall color. I may need to return to this canyon. I believe 12,614 Mt. Baldwin is visible in the background.
