    Golden spiral

To me the most interesting part of the image is the clouds because of the movement in them. I'm not sure if clouds do this in certain environments, like areas prone to tornadoes or hurricanes. As someone who lives near big mountains, I've not seen clouds do this. My area is known to be quite...

    Purple and White

Both feel quite soothing, but I prefer No. 2 because I think more of the frame is filled with that darker shade of purple.

    Sunrise Blues

I love it when I get up early enough to shoot the sunrise and get into position in time, but the sunrise just doesn’t light up. Most recently this happened to me on Sunday. Nice job making the most of your sunrise.

Nicely done, Kurt. I drove past Mono Lake today but didn’t see colors like this!

    Death Valley’s Footprints

The trailhead is unmarked in any way and it’s miles past a popular tourist spot. There’s a rough trail leading towards the canyon, but it’s unmaintained. As you get closer to the area in question, there’s a wooden sign warning people of a jail sentence or large fine for trespassing, complete...

    Death Valley’s Footprints

Earlier this month my parents and I went on a ranger-led hike into a closed area in Death Valley National Park where there are lots of fossilized animal footprints, plants, raindrops, and other things, all of which are found on nearly vertical walls of sedimentary rock. Death Valley at one...

    Taipei at Sunset

Nicely done, Kyle. That’s not an easy walk to the top. The views from the top are breathtaking! I didn’t have as many clouds during my sunset visit.

    Dawn at Zabriskie Point

We stayed at The Ranch. I think my parents will now prefer to camp rather than stay there again. And yes, I was able to photograph some of the fossilized footprints. Maybe I’ll post them later. Thank you kindly, everyone!

    Dawn at Zabriskie Point

Thanks, Alan. The light was terrific. Thanks, Michael. There was a quasi-crowd that was slightly smaller than the one up there for sunset. I had no problem moving around and getting shots without people in them.

    Dawn at Zabriskie Point

My parents and I recently stayed in Death Valley National Park overnight because we won a spot on a ranger-led hike into a closed area that features lots of fossilized animal footprints from millions of years ago. Our accommodation was near Zabriskie Point so I got up early enough to see the...
