    Time Flies

The movement in the clouds rocks in this image! Ive only spent a few hours in the park, but I agree that it’s a great place. I remember one formation in particular that looks uncomfortably phallic.

Thanks for posting the shot of Sweet Creek from the other side of the creek, Alan. This gives me even more reason to return! After photographing Mt. Shasta on my road trip back to Bishop, I took a break from driving at Burney Falls. I had the falls to myself while it was snowing and there was...

    Mt. Shasta

Thank you, Jim. Black and white is my go-to if I take pictures in harsh sunlight. This was taken around 10 am that day.

    Mt. Shasta

A week ago I drove 650 miles from Eugene, OR back to Bishop, CA. Mt. Shasta showed me some of the only non-rainy, non-snowy weather I encountered all day. This is a three-image pano.

    Thursday’s Task

On a recent road trip near Mt. Shasta in Northern California, I stopped on the shoulder to get this shot and wanted to include the fresh snow on the vegetation in the water to create more image depth and showcase how recent the snowfall was.

Thanks, Alan. I saw the trail on the other side of the creek and was wondering how those people got over there. Next time!

I visited Sweet Creek this weekend for the first time. No wonder so many on this forum enjoy this place!

    Delicate Arch 1978 (redo)

Has the left side of the arch become thinner since 1978? During my only visit to Delicate Arch in 2023, there were certainly many people on the trail, but I was able to get plenty of images without people in them. I’d much rather visit it with no one around though.

I took a drive in Buttermilk country near where I live last week and found a tree.

Thanks, Douglas. It’s not often a bird tolerates me getting so close that I can take a picture with my phone.

    Winged Wednesday

We have a birding festival next month where groups travel to Owens Lake approximately 60 miles south to view large numbers of migrating birds, just like these pelicans.

    Winged Wednesday

Here’s a flock of white pelicans drifting above the Volcanic Tablelands in CA on a breezy day. I don’t recall seeing any of them flap their wings.

    Road into Valley of Fire

Mind blowing is a good way to put it. It was quite fun to drive in a car during my first visit, and even moreso on a motorcycle during my most recent visit!

    Thursday’s Task

This canyon in Death Valley National Park is closed to the public. Another one of the non-famous formations from Yehliu Geopark in Taiwan. This is the Reward Mine, an abandoned gold mine near Independence, CA that’s so large and vast that you can drive into it!
