A few shots from a ski ascent of Mt. Baker a few years ago. We don't have any snow at our ski areas yet, but I'm getting psyched (just ordered a new set of Back-country gear).
Climbing into a white-out, but the weather prediction is good.

I've been sitting on this image since I got back from Montana, but figured I may as well share it and get some opinions. Even though they never really lit up during sunrise, I really liked the clouds over the mountains to the east. I found these rocks in the foreground and tried to put myself in...
Most of the shots I got on a recent walk to Artist Point near the Mt. Baker ski area were zoomed into the dramatic peaks. These fellow hikers didn't know how well they were posing for me and my tele lens. Recent snow makes the peaks more dramatic.
Some B&W from Artist Point in WA Cascade mountains near Mt. Baker. These were all shot with a Sony A7rII, most with the Sony 100-400mm at 400. I've posted more shots with a comparison of the four cameras I used over in Travelogue.

Ben posted a series of photos from Wild Goose Island Overlook of St Mary lake in the critique forum, which I found helpful for thinking about this spot before my first visit a couple of weeks ago. I arrived about 9am with some nice clouds and some light poking through. So here's my take. Any...
I've already shared the sunset shot I was targeting at Hidden Lake, but I can definitely see spending days around Logan Pass finding great scenes. Here are a couple of shots I liked along the trail as well as a shot at Hidden Lake prior to sunset. Any thoughts are welcome.
1) I know these have...
This was taken on a rush coming back to the west side of Glacier from the Many Glaciers area after doing some hiking. A couple of bear jams along the way slowed me down so I didn't quite make it to the spot I'd wanted on McDonald Lake for sunset. At the same time, I kind of like the trees on the...
Like Glacier National Park, Glacier Basin in the central Cascades of Washington is loosing it's namesakes.

Here is the opposite view looking out of the basin down into the valley I hiked and rode my mountain bike up. The dramatic peaks on the left are the Wilman's Spires.
It is tough to get anywhere in Glacier - it seems like every turnout requires stopping for a picture. This is on the Eastern side of Logan Pass and I liked the mountains, waterfall and light enough that I had to stop yet again.
Any thoughts are welcome.
Two Medicine Lake was one of the places high on my list to visit for my first trip to Glacier. On my last morning it looked like there was a great chance for sunrise so I made the 1:45 drive from my hotel to check it out. As is apparently common, there was too much wind for a classic reflection...
I saw this view while driving up the Going to the Sun road and had to stop. I loved the way the clouds were framing the mountains and waterfall.
Any thoughts are welcome.
New version with some more oomph in the falls and color dodging in the greens around it.
After a little bushwhacking, we were treated to this rarely, if ever, visited location in Glacier National Park. Numerous waterfalls poured down from the massive cliffs that surrounded us, and we scoured the area for hours looking for the perfect compositions. Unfortunately most of the wild...
I hiked the Grinnell Glacier Trail with my wife last week and on the way back down the hill we had an encounter with some local residents. We ended up sharing the trail with a family of mountain goats for at least a quarter mile before we were able to sneak passed them. I have a lot of images...
This was from my first night in Glacier. It was a beautiful afternoon, and while the sunset wasn't spectacular, I think it fit the scene well. We walked a little passed the official overlook so I could get a view that looked down the lake a little more. My wife was already nervous about hiking...
I worked as an assistant climbing ranger and lived at Sunrise back in the summer of 72. I have many wonderful memories of walking The Silver Forest trail after the crowds left. My wife and I lucked out having the trail to ourselves last week on a beautiful summer evening.
Glaciers constitute one of my most favourite topics to photograph. I am on a mission to document on my photos as many glaciers as possible before they melt. This particular one is located in Canada.
