This is from Glacier NP a few years back. I don't recall which waterfall this is, perhaps Alan does. But it was an area I really enjoyed exploring. I hope to get back there next summer, so I need to dig out my maps and figure out where I had shot this.
I liked the way the rocks were uplifted...
I shot some of my friends skinning up for another run on the Paradise Glacier on Mt. Rainier on July 5th. The surface of the snow in the summer gets a light dusting from pumice, the turns we make skiing make nice white curves that contrast with it.
These were taken on a 3 day ski tour in the North Cascades National Park, The Forbidden Traverse. In the spring it starts and ends with a few hours of carrying skis through some slide alder which can be challenging. The views are some of the best in the park.

Many people consider this profile of Eldorado Pk. in the North Cascades to be the most graceful in the park.

These are all old slides (mostly Kodachrome) from the late 70s - early 80s, scanned with Nikon Coolscan 4000.

Pat climbing into The Orient Express couloir on our last attempt. We only make it half way up the rib to the right (avoiding dangerous wind slab snow). Note the spindrift blowing off the top.

Most of the climb up the West Buttress is snow slogging with heavy loads. We would carry a load of food and fuel up to the next camp a few thousand feet higher, ski back down with empty packs, then pack up everything the next day and bring it all up to that next camp. This not only makes each...
I'm going to break this into 4 threads because I got a lot of shots on a 19 day trip up the standard West Buttress route in 2005. This was my first expedition using a digital camera. I went with a Canon Rebel XT for it's light weight with an 18-125mm Sigma lens. I brought a solar charger which...
Yesterday I posted shots of St. Helens taken from the same location.

These were taken on a trip to AK 12 years ago. I climbed, and attempted to ski, from the summit as a 50th b-day gift to myself. Afterward my wife came up and we rented a car for a two week tour where I shot these when we drove into Wonder Lake.
