Today, something from Iceland: The Arch at Gatklettur, here portrayed at sunrise during one of the Workshops I led in Iceland last December is one of the lesser known - but not less amazing - beautiful landscapes of Iceland. With the Leica SL, Voigtlander 15mm and Formatt-Hitech Firecrest Ultra...
Iceland is every photographer’s dream. The landscapes created by ice and fire during millennia of geologic violent events and then shaped by the forces of erosion are unique and impressive in any season, under any light and any weather. Next spring, I’ll put my knowledge of Iceland to photograph...
The glacial lagoon at Jokulsarlon, Iceland, taken during the first Workshop I led in Iceland, last December. Leica M10, Voigtlander 15mm v. III and Formatt-Hitech Firecrest Ultra filters.
Thanks for viewing, best regards

Here's a bonus waterfall for this week from Iceland (this is a fall and hopefully not a "fail"). Seljalandsfoss is a very popular fall just off the ring road on the south coast of Iceland. We drove by to scout it out during the day and I didn't really want to even deal with trying to find a...
We stopped in this spot in the middle of the night, before moving on for sunrise. The white specks on this cliffs are thousands of birds.
Any thoughts are welcome.
Here are a few glacier shots from my trip to Iceland last May, along with a little bit about each of them.
1) Fjallsárlón is near the more famous Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon, where we see many photos of ice floating in the waters with mountains in the background. In addition to being less...
Vestrahorn Reflections - Höfn, Iceland
We started that day driving from Gullfoss in Western Iceland to the town of Höfn where we'd be spending the next four nights. Our goal for that night was to shoot the Vestrahorn, a 1500 ft mountain that rises above the Stokksness black sand beach and was...
Here are two shots from Grjótagjá Cave near Myvatn in northern Iceland. The cave includes a hot spring that apparently used to be a popular swimming spot, but some volcanic shifts have increased the water temperature to the point where that isn't a good idea.
The first shot is from inside the...
I'm not good at birds in general, and have no worthwhile experience at BIF. That said, here's my best attempt at a flying puffin. Who knew that they'd be so quick...
A nice chunk of ice on Iceland's diamond beach. The scene was pretty monochrome to begin with, making B&W processing somewhat natural...
Any thoughts are welcome!
Here's a B&W version from Kirkjufell in Western Iceland. I processed the top half with an orange filter to darken the sky and pick up the highlights in the cloud and mountain. The bottom half was with a blue filter to highlight the falls.
Any thoughts are welcome!
Day 3 of 7 posting B&W images
This is Aldeyjarfoss in Northern Iceland, a really cool waterfall that is at least a little off the beaten path (dirt road and some hiking). The result is some nice glacial green water flowing through a basalt amphitheater. This is my favorite type of image to...
A visit to the Diamond Beach outside of the Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon was a bucket list item for me when I went to Iceland in May. I'd been tracking the weather and we picked a sunrise that looked promising and started the drive from our hotel in Hofn at about midnight. As we drove, I started...
My second time shooting at night...
I know we can be our own worst critic I had a difficult time trying to edit this one in fear it was too bright, too much noise, or even how I wanted to look. Yet, I can still look at it now and still unsure I am happy with my results.
CC is welcome.
Here are a couple of wide angle shots from the Jökulsárlón lagoon in Iceland in between being socked in by fog. The clouds cleared nicely in the early morning so I worked to emphasize them with my 14mm in the first. I zoomed a little more into the second to pick up more of the mountains. Any...
I took my first trip out of the country and I choose Iceland. Sunset on Black Sand Beach. The combination of the black sand on the beach and watching the wave crashing on the beach was calming. I could have sat here all day watching the waves.
There is an issue with Uploading Photos (attachjments). I am not sure what the problem is, and I am looking into it. You can still try to Create your Threads and Upload your Photos, but it is hanging up during the Upload.
