Well, after I got back home I wasn't going to even process these Upper Yosemite Fall moonbow shots with the Milky Way in it. I met Kyle up there, and the shooting locations to avoid trees were very limited. Kyle and Alejandro got there first, and their spot was the best position to shoot from...
Last weekend as I was out in Joshua Tree I had scouted around a bit before sunset and had found this area that is close to Arch Rock but a bit higher up. I liked the leading lines, and took some sunset shots from here, but also wanted to get back and shoot this with the Milky Way if possible. So...
I spent a couple of nights out in Joshua Tree this weekend so that I could spend a couple of nights shooting Arch Rock with the Milky Way. I wanted to spend more then one night there just focusing on the Arch so that I could really take it in, and also to get some slightly different comps with...
This was from the second night of my visit to Yosemite last weekend. After a cloudy day the skies cleared just before sunset and after having dinner in the valley we made our way to Glacier Point. I had found this spot on a previous visit, with a nice clear view to the east. Unlike previous...
Anyone tried Loxia 35mm or 21mm with Sony for astrophotography? Just wondering how good is it for Astro, I'm just thinking about using the loxia 35mm with A7S for astro pano, any suggestions?
Thanks
This is Thousand Island Lake up in the Ansel Adams Wilderness in the Eastern Sierra. It was really cool getting the Milky Way that evening. I am hoping to get back up there this summer to get some new Milky Way shots from there.

I shot this a couple of years ago at Mono Lake as I was passing through on my way to look for some fall color. I shot the sunset at Navy Beach and saw the crowds over at South Tufa. I headed over there once it got dark, and found it amusing that I was arriving while everyone else was leaving.
I...
Do you have any night photos of the stars? Of the Milky Way? Please post them in this thread.
If this hits off well, this may turn into a monthly Feature we do in conjunction with our Waterfall Wednesdays.
Here is mine to start it off. One from Joshua Tree from a few years ago. I mainly shoot...
A few years ago I attended a Starry Skies workshop with Michael Frye (one of my all time favorite photographers). We spent one evening at Olmsted Point shooting the various trees with the stars behind them. Michael showed the group this tree and many of them spent time taking turns having a go...
This is from a few summers back, I would hang out here at the Great Fountain Geyser. So I incorporated it with the Milky Way and some air glow into a pano. This was a 5 or 6 shot pano if I remember correctly.

While the moon was lowering in the sky towards the Maroon Bells peaks, the Milky Way was making it's appearance known peaking out behind a light layer of clouds. This is a 1 shot image, with the peaks and gfall colors being lit up by the moon.

I shot this last fall, while the Soberanes fire was still burning just to the south. It was close enough that the actual park was closed, but I was happy with this spot along the road. The smoke along the horizon actually made it a little easier to blend my twilight shot of the cove with the...
Out shooting the Milky Way a few years ago, and these clouds had developed. It wasn't my original composition, but when I saw the shape of the clouds, I then moved a bit to get the MW to line up with the cone of hill along with the clouds lining up.

One from Gates of the Valley in Yosemite earlier in the year. The moon was still up lighting the valley, but the side effect was it was washing out the Milky Way some. It was a case of shooting this just as the moon was setting but still lighting up the valley and then shooting the Milky Way as...
There is an issue with Uploading Photos (attachjments). I am not sure what the problem is, and I am looking into it. You can still try to Create your Threads and Upload your Photos, but it is hanging up during the Upload.
