Thanks--this is my favorite of these as well. My only regret is not leaving enough room around the budding flower. The shot was a focus stack and, with the lens I used (Voigtlander 65/2 apo-lanthar at F2) the lens extends as you focus closer. Thus, the magnification changes a bit when focus stacking and results in a final image that requires a bit of cropping....All part of learning one's tools. I still like the effect tho as by using the largest aperture, one can still blur the background and by combining images, one can get adequate depth of field. The rose in this image pops partly because of this, I think. Thanks for the comments on these. Interesting to see the diversity of opinions. I like them all, of course, or I would not have posted them. Each of these lenses can produce great results, but all with different character. This is part of the fun for me being something of a gear head.....I like the composition of #3 the best, especially the contrast between a new budding rose on the left and a open one on the right.
