A day in the rain forest

We had some out of town guests last week and they wanted to see the rain forest. Wasn't the ideal day to do that with rainy weather. It was a rainy soggy day and that isn't a recipe to out in the rain forest. That said it was a reasonably enjoyable way. Ended up getting a decent set of images. I'll post the ones from my normal camera later, here are a couple shot in IR.

I kind of prefer visiting the rainforests in the rain - although you need to be prepared to wander in the wet with the dripping canopy overhead :) Hardly a recipe for a good time if your guests are desert dwellers who melt in light drizzles however.

I like the subtle shades of the forest colors in the first image.

Like Alan, I really like the shades in the first. The second is also nice. I am one who melts when he gets wet.

Those look really nice Jameel. I guess I haven’t been up in the rainforests too much as I would have thought rainy weather would have been a perfect time to be in the rainforest. :)

Thanks Alan. I personally don't mind some light drizzle but it can get really soggy in the rainforest.

Melt in the rain? I thought things dissolve in water and melt in the heat :)

Thanks Ben. Good you are in the dry Utah.

Thanks Jim. You should try that sometime.

My first experience in a rainforest was a March visit to the Hoh with light snow falling. My wife and I came fully expecting rain and coming from Utah March snow was perfectly normal to us. Every tree in the forest was dripping but I just figured that was why they called it a rain forest. I do have some Velvia slides from that trip but have never posted any of them. I do most of my winter camping along the coast and am quite used to hiking the coastal forests with muddy trails.

Melting - digging up an oldie here but the Wicked Witch in the Wizard of Oz melts when she gets wet 😎
