A new milky way from Marlboro Point

This was taken the night before the one I posted at the critique forum. This night I had a 20 minute window with a rising moon and before the MW core was gone. I was not at my favorite location but this was a lot easier to process.

Thanks Jim, I will start looking for this for my MW trips. Not every trip is aimed at MW, but when they are I will seeks this. I suppose the best days are when the moon is rising after 3:00AM or so. The setting moon tends to be in the frame.

Thanks Jeffrey, I tend to agree with you, but the experts have convinced me to use a bluer sky and a toned down foreground. These after dark long exposures will never look like what we see, because we can't see anything when it's this dark.

I have not seen the other version from another night you referenced, but for me, this is my favorite one of these shots you have ever posted. As Jim said, the Moon is the master light painter for the foreground if you get the right amount and this looks absolutely perfect to me. The composition with the Milky Way coming down towards the foreground rock spire makes this very powerful I think. And I think I like the blue tinge to the sky when you are going to show lighted foreground in particular - for whatever reason just looks more natural to me. This is a wall hanger in my book!

I took this May 6th. The one below was May 7th and the moon was later to rise.

I am with Jeffrey in that I'd tone down the blue a bit. Otherwise a very nice image.
