A pano of the Lava Point trail at Zion

I recently posted a couple images of Kolob Terrace and that "island" type structure along the Lava Point Trail. I just processed an old pano I took of the area, to give a little more perspective. It does warrant a little more investigation next time I go there.

In the pano, the "island" is to the far left. The trail eventually becomes or merges with the West Rim trail before connecting with the Angel's Landing trail.

Not a part of Zion I have personally visited so thanks for sharing the view. I can't say I have seen a lot of images from this point of view.

This is a very cool Pano Bart! I haven't been up in that area, I will have to go there sometime.

Jim: I didn't spend a lot of time on the processing, I was primarily interested in providing context for the earlier image. That said, I knew way back when I took the picture there was an odd appearance, as the background did drop to the left. Then there's a conflicting alignment of the tops of the peaks. If I decide to print (the lighting wasn't the greatest, as it was mid-morning by the time we hiked by), I'll spend more time on the alignment.

It's a cool hike, I've done it twice, and next time I'll camp, so I'll have a chance for better light, and time to explore.

Thanks,

Bart

Fascinating image, Bart. Doesn't look like there's any easy way to get across those huge gaps. but you are on top of the world there.

Jeffrey, you're right for most of it. But I think the flat area to the far left may be accessible through the brush you can barely see in the bottom left corner. It would be a big challenge, with great reward. Isn't that the way we like it?
