Adirondacks, NY Connery Pond

I've made several trips over the last few weeks to the High Peaks area and usually spend an evening and sunrise at Connery Pond. A week ago, there was thick fog, so no sun got through, but there was a great, heavy frost.

The first is the morning shot (no clouds !)

The second is from yesterday morning. The light and clouds lasted maybe 5 minutes at best.

I like the light frost on everything in that first image and the layers of fog just add to the depth of the scene. Did you use a different lens/focal length for the second image? Features on the other side of the pond seem closer in the first one.

Hey Bart,

It's cool seeing the same location in different conditions and focal lengths. I like both of these, perhaps #1 the most because low fog like that is something I rarely get to shoot, so that one feels more special to me.

That orange/red grass is one of my favorite fall features, especially with a water course through it. The pond and distant fall color just add to it. But the foggy and frosty image has it's own appeal, love them both.

Jim: Thanks. If only I had some clouds for the frosty scene.

Hey, in 2024 the Eclipse will be over the Adirondacks; for sure I'll some scenery options if you want to make the long journey. In fact, I'll set up some options on this site.

Great mood in the first one - I can feel like I'm there (and shiver a little in the process). I'm a sucker for the colors in the second though!

Hey Bart.

Love this work. The atmosphere of the mist on the frosty ground is super and I really like the colour in the second and third one as well. The third, with the extra lead in and the extra sky colour is probably my favourite - though the mist is calling!

I can confirm the inordinate amount of gear you carry - including much of mine on that hile in to Shi Shi! :D
