Wow - just wow. These guys nest all over the place up here in the NW but I never see scenes like this one.
Thanks Alan. This was along the Coeur d' Alene river. I think I have a bald eagle doing the same thing on this branch from a different year.

To put it in perspective - we have nesting bald eagles and ospreys within a two mile radius of my house. What I don't have is a photogenic branch that they will land on so I can shoot images of them as they tend to nest on top of telephone poles and tall evergreens. Other than descending to obtain dinner they tend to soar up high and nest high as well.
Right, telephone poles or dummy nests built to keep then off the real phone poles are the norm in Idaho, but I managed to find a few natural places. This was once an eagle nest and when they abandoned it, osprey took over. I went back year after year.
