An Oxbow morning

I am another fan of the first image - I love those clouds over the peaks and reflections in the water are almost like a mirror.
The colors are great in both of these.

I am with Ben, and for the exact same reason, Mt Moran. #1 is very nice, but I think #2 is better.

2nd one for me Jameel, lovely warm/ cold light transitions with the mountains playing a more important part. I hesitate to say this but I think that radically cropping the first image will make a wonderful image approx 1/3rd remains from the bright patch of trees just to the left of the mountains, including all of the mountains with the wonderful clouds, cropping out most of the sky and reflections leaving you with another letterbox image. Nice shots. Another vote for #2 - mountains are much more prominent. I"d also try Ken's crop on the first.

First one for me - I love the atmosphere it conveys
I prefer the second, I always want to see mt Moran.

Jameel, the 2nd one is nicer. IMHO

Thanks for the comments guys. Looks like an almost even split on the two images.

Thanks Ken for the comments and the crop suggestion. I have quite a few compositions from that day. Will see if I have something close to your suggestion.

I agree that I'd like a tighter crop of the first image. The "action" is all pretty small in the center.

To me this is an interesting dilemma I often face. Most of us know this iconic location well, and Mt. Moran is a dominating part of it. I'd still argue that the actual conditions (light, clouds, overall atmosphere) of the first image are better. So... do we reject a beautiful image that is lacking an iconic landscape feature in favor of one that is possibly less interesting? If you had no familiarity with the location and didn't see the 2nd image, would you believe the first was missing something?

I am with you on this Kyle. Iconic images are iconic for a reason. However things like light, atmosphere etc. dictate the composition for me more than the specific elements.
