Ancestral Pueblo Ruins

A relatively intact set of Ancestral Pueblo ruins in an alcove above an unnamed canyon along Comb Wash. The location was somewhat remote and lacks easy access so it has not been systematically looted like so many other ruins of a similar age in this area. The first image is a TS-E shifted panorama of the scene in the alcove.

This next one is a closer look at the floor of the alcove with a nice collection of corn cobs. Several flavors of pot shards were observed (not shown below) including black-on-red wares, black-on-white shards, corrugated cookware, and smooth white shards.

I like the attic apartment in #1. Do you suppose it was accessed from the structure below (I see foundations) or by a long ladder? An intriguing look back in time.

Probably from the roof of another structure that is no longer standing. MonikaC and I visited another set of ruins today that had far more intact structures and there were rooms that had to be accessed from the roof of a kiva.
