It cleared up this afternoon, so I got out the solar equipment and sun didn't disappoint. I also got a new camera. I went with the ASI533mc, I missed the osc camera and heard this was pretty good camera. I took this shot in Bortle 8 skies and took 260- 60 sec shots. I really like the camera and hope to get more galaxy shots in town.

Love that image of the sun Chuck! One day I want to get a lens like yours so I can capture it too!

Your Bodes and Cigar galaxies look really sweet! Great detail in these. What lens did you use?

The biggest “knock” I have heard on the ASI533mc is that it’s a square sensor. From a quality standpoint it is right up there it seems. And as to the square sensor, I know a hood majority of my Astro images I crop square anyway, so I don’t think that’s as big of an issue as some have made it to be.

I am looking to get an OSC camera in the next month or so. The ASI294mc Pro had been my choice, though now I believe it will be the ASi2600mc Pro. I did look at the ASI533mc Pro,and it’s a camera I probably should go look back at again.

Thanks jim,
I used the FSQ106. I liked that the 533 had no amp glow. The squre sensor doesn't bother me since I bought this for galaxies and they are usually pretty tiny. I will be using it with the Celestron 9.25 but still have a couple of objects I want to shoot with the wide field setup and narrow band filters

Great stuff - holy cow that prom is HUGE! can't imagine the scale on that one.

The OSC is doing nice work too for sure.
