Yesterday I experienced a storm. Not just any storm, but of a magnitude I've not seen in years, maybe even a decade.

The first lightnings I missed, because I couldn't find my lightning trigger anywhere. Well, luckily, after a half an hour searching, I located it. But then the cell had already died.

But, the day was far from over. A lot stronger storm was approaching. I drove some ten miles to meet it and it was... Beautiful.

This is a photo I've been wanting to take for years:



I photographed the approaching cloud until it started to rain. I ran to my car, that I had to park next to a field.





The anvil crawlers stretched across the sky, so I changed to a 14mm lense.

Stunning storm and some great captures of the action. The third image is amazing - I can see why you have been waiting to capture a scene like this.

Wow Matti! That storm has such an evil look to it! You got some great lightning, and of course the shapes of the clouds are something one could see in a horror movie!

My favorites are #2 and 3.

As for the Lightning Trigger. I have had one for over 10 years, and have never used it. I just lock in my Remote Release and let it go. There is no missing lightning bolts as it will catch everything. You will end up with a lot images without lightning in it for sure, so you will have to go through later and pull out the frames with the lightning in, but with digital, that's not a big deal. At least that's how I capture my lightning.
