Bernadette lemon with scarves

Up very early yesterday morning doing a photoshoot of my botanically printed scarves with the beautiful model and dancer Bernadette Lemon. Exhibiting in my Open Studio in Cambridge, UK last 2 weekends of July. Images used for my website and other promotional avenues.
Still not early enough at 7.00am because the sunlight was too contrasty ,so moved into the shade and worked with the sunlight as backlighting. .
I started off in the nature reserve of Wicken Fen sing backdrops of Elderflowers . Then continued the shoot in my garden with roses as a backdrop.
Pretty tricky being stylist and photographer and organising my product. Bernadette was a delight to work with.
Quick edits for now and I may work on done more colour correction
I seem to have uploaded multiple copies but it’s a bit of a fiddle To remove them

I agree with Ben! It's awesome to have you posting, I was actually just thinking about you a couple of days ago, you must have heard me.

I fixed up your post for you. It sure can be hard to edit with the phone. Not impossible, but it is harder for sure.

First off, my first impressions were what an incredibly professional looking set of images. The model is beautiful. I don't know if you picked someone because of their red hair, but that red hair provides an awesome contrast with all of that green.

I just got back from being out photographing, so I will come back to this later as I want to pick out a couple of my favorites.

Yes Bernadette was in my sights as I had seen her work with other local photographers and knew her pre-Raphaelite look was exactly what I wanted. I haven’t don’t a model shoot before and looking after all the aspects of the shoot including styling product logistics and location etc.. distracted
There are many little tweaks to the compositions I would do but I did manage to see majority of the pitfalls such as a straight veritical forearm looking for dynamic shapes at all time . But the occasional image I show today has some really nice elements that I let sneak through despite some detractors

Bernadette Has a dance background and her grace and elegance shone through . Again. A reason why I picked her . Having local knowledge of a model really does help your confidence on selection .

the light was harsh even though it was early but the position from shade with light backing ring worked well
I could do a lot more editing but this is a first pass
I have attached an iPhone snap of the conditions on the sunlight to show you how bad the photos could have been

Wow! That's the conditions you shot in? One would never know by looking at your finished images. It looks like your studying paid off. I don't do people portraits too often, but when I have, I have always done what you did. I would study up a head of time on all aspects of what makes for good portraits, and cram that into my head.
