You have some mighty nice color in those first two. Looks like your fall color has not yet peaked, so maybe you can still get back up there before it's finished.

That third image may be my favorite. Not as much color, but very nice composition and nice clouds, great light on the mountain and a gorgeous forest.

Interesting set - amazing sky colors for the first two and the backlit foreground trees in the first one are nice. #3 seems to grab my attention a bit more with the better light on the mountain face as well as the subtle lighting on the trees. Have to agree with Ben about still having more time for your color show in that area.

Sort of interesting to note where people have built houses on those slopes.

Thanks to you both. Fall color in NC is odd this year. It was supposed to be a good year, but Irma hit and 80 mph winds blew away a lot of the leaves at higher elevations. Thus, the leaves that ought to be gorgeous are mostly gone. At lower elevations, color not yet at peak as warmer temps have slowed down the change. Unfortunately, I need to go back to work on Monday, so play time for me is nearly over for a bit. Thx for the kind words.

Oh, and yes, there are tooo many houses on the hillsides IMO....

Hey Stephen,

#4 is my favorite. I like those layered hills in the background.

The first 3 seem just a bit dark to me, I think all 3 could benefit from some shadow recovery.

Thanks Jim. I will see what I can do, however, it was pretty dark being before sunrise so i wanted to reflect what the conditions were like and the mood and feel of the reality.

Okay, tried editing a bit more and here are some new versions of two of the originals plus two new ones). When I bring up the shadows of the first image more, it is just too noisy I fear. C&C of these new images welcome.

Hey Stephen,

Of your edits, I do like the overall effect of the brighter ground layer. #1 might be a bit too bright compared to the background, but I do like being able to see more detail in the foreground trees, that's a big plus in my book. In the darker versions, the fall color is hidden to an extent because of how dark the ground was, with this now, the fall colors really start to shine. You can get cool colors in the sky any time, but fall colors only happen for a very short space of time, so my thinking is I want those fall colors to be on display.

#2 of your edits is my favorite of those, nice fall color detail, everything in the image is pretty evenly lit. Very well done.

I then I prefer #4 over #3 of the edit, I think will hills covered full of fall color, that not having an anchor of some other trees (as in 3) makes #4 stronger, and there is nothing but the pattern of fall color trees from the bottom anchor to the middle of the image.
