Bottle Gentians

Gentiana parryi. Just in case any of you thought I was only photographing sunflowers lately........;)
These were on the way in/out of Wheeler Geologic Area. There were several large meadows awash in gentians....and ATV tracks where people decided to leave the road & drive through the meadows instead. Didn't want to drive on the muddy road, I guess. Fortunately, they didn't squash all of them. Stopping to photograph them on the way out made for a nice break.

Absolutely beautiful. This is why I don’t do many of these. When I see one like this I realize how much I don’t know

And so glad there were some left not ran over. With ATV's, the mud shouldn't be an issue for them. That would be half the fun you would think?

Yeah, there was absolutely no reason for them to drive into the meadow. It was flat & open there. And if you're not supposed to drive on muddy, wet roads/trails, why is going through a soft meadow any better? There are signs saying to stay on the road because of erosive soils........

I had to leave the masking on this one several times & go back to it. I wasn't as careful with finding the angle where there would be better isolation/more contrasting background as I wanted this angle on the flowers. BTW, this was a focus stack, then masked. Most of the ones I do are a single shot @f/22.
