I went out to Jackson Lake State Park in Colorado a few days ago. It got down to 12 degrees during the night, but I think it was worth it.
I ended up going after the Bubble Nebula, which is a pretty small but super cool object in the sky. I spent all night on this one object, which is a first for me. I used the L-Pro Wide Band filter to start, and ran 8 hours with it. The previews looked really good, so I was happy. But I wondered how the L-Enhance filter would look as it's a Narrow Band filter. But I didn't want to interupt my current imaging, because if I switch filters mid stream, odds are dust will come in, which means I need to also make new flats and dark flats to calibate. It's kind of a pain, so I prefer to stick with one filter all night long. But I really wanted to see if the L-Enhance filter would work. I am still experimenting and learning about which filters are best for which objects.
So at 4:30am I did switch to the L-Enhance filter and took an hour worth of data before the sky would get too bright. I did it mainly as a test, but of course with my first preview I instantly regretted waiting, and wished I had started with the L-Enhance filter instead of the L-Pro, it looked that much better.
I have spent the last day, processing the 2 different data sets I have. The 8 hours of L-Pro and the 1 hour of L-Enhance. After starting, and restarting a dozen times, I finally settled on this from the 1 hour of data from the L-Enhance.
The Bubble is a cool object as it actually looks like a bubble!
Now one of the first things I noticed was that the Bubble in my images was pretty lacking in color. The other images I had seen from Mono cameras, the Bubble was often a blue color. I had never shot this before, so I had no idea what to expect. But I was a bit disappointed that the Bubble wasn't more colorful. I guess this is one I will need to capture again, and work on some more.
