Burning Bush?

Nov '15 out shooting the cypress swamp with fall colors, I got there well before dawn, and the sky was mostly overcast so it was still fairly dark.
As the sky lightened and broke up a soft shaft of light caught this tree, showing off its lovely red color in the gloom.

I like the splash of red here but the out of focus branches in front are a bit distracting. No easy way around that.
I hear ya. I actually took shots planning a focus stack, which is tough there for all the complexity of the swamp, but decided I liked it better with limited dof, sort of a vignette focusing the eye on the light and color in the bg.

Hey Barry,

What an interesting shot. Love that light in the background.

And while that OOF tree on the left jumped out at me at first, when I just stopped for a minute to look at the whole scene, it actually didn't bother me as much. In fact I would say it then just kind of blended into the scene, and provided some nice framing to direct the eye into the center. I think especially if this was bigger, like in a nice sized print, that the OOF foreground might not even be noticed.

I like this as some thing a bit different visually.
