Butterfly-weed at Anderson Prairie, Iowa

Butterfly-weed is one of thee most beautiful of all prairie plants. Here is a striking example that contrasts nicely with the deep green of the gasses during a wet summer. Also present in tis image are Coreopsis (yellow), Spiderwort (purple), and Porcupine Grass (the light colored grass). Wow - the reds in these blooms are almost violent. I like the rolling skyline and the nice clouds lingering above.

Awesome Doug! It’s funny some of the most beautiful flowers seem to be called or considered weeds.
