Butterfly-weed is one of thee most beautiful of all prairie plants. Here is a striking example that contrasts nicely with the deep green of the gasses during a wet summer. Also present in tis image are Coreopsis (yellow), Spiderwort (purple), and Porcupine Grass (the light colored grass). You can see more of the beautiful plants of Midwestern prairies in my two posts on prairies in the Wildlife/Nature forum.
