Cactus Blossoms

Hi All...

Spring in the desert means the cacti start to bloom. Here's an Argentine Cactus blossom in full glory with a couple of buds just behind it. These large blossoms (about 5-6" in diameter) bloom overnight and only last about a day or two at most. The "at most" phrase means they're a nice tasty treat for local javelinas that are attracted to them like cats to catnip.

Thanks
Tom

Jim (Wow)...thanks for awarding the featured post!

Zeph...Here are the gear/settings:
  • Canon 80D
  • Canon 24-105 @ 80mm
  • ISO 100
  • 1/1250 sec.
  • f/6.3
The trick to the black background is using my car's windshield sun screen which has both a silver and black side.
