Canyonlands Cutout

One from over in the Green River overlook area with Craig, we had been out exploring and came across this a little ways away from the overview itself. I liked out the cutout in the foreground shelf lead to the sun. There were no clouds on this day so it was about working the sun as it set.

Nice job of working this sunset - I like your little cutout as a visual treat for the foreground as it stands out still in the sunlight while the canyons below are shadowed.

This is a really neat find, I have spent a fair amount of time there and always think of the overlook facing south and this is obviously facing west.

Thanks Ben, it's been a couple of years since we shot this. I am thinking we hiked a little more then just a little. Maybe it was even 1/2 a mile? I don't really recall how far now.

Looking at Google Maps, I see that the butte curves north so provides a west facing location after a bit. I plan to camp at Willow Flats someday and really check this area out.

Ha ha, now I remember why I don't remember, those 10 miles was so very grueling!
