Carter Lake

Carter Lake is one of the many small lakes that were formed by shifting sand dunes along the Oregon coast near Florence. The soils under the surrounding forest for miles are entirely drifted sand. Many of these small lakes have limited access so seemed like good targets for drone photography. Not the best sun angle but it was what I had to work with on this visit.

I remember seeing several of these lakes along US101. Thye always looked inviting but did not seem to have any access.

Thanks Ben - one of the biggest reasons I decided to get a drone was so I could shoot some of the many places in the PNW that don't have workable access. I feel like I am just barely getting started.

Yes you can fish there and there is a boat ramp at one end of the lake (where I launched from). There were a couple of guys hanging out watching me fly out and around over the lake from their pickup truck and their first question when I was walking back from the launch was whether I could spot fish with the drone. I told them if a fish was big enough for me to spot with the wide angle lens on my Air 2 they would need a harpoon

Thanks Jameel - this is one of many in that area. There are dozens of small lake around there.
