Cathedral Valley Overlook

A wonderful show was going on for me at the Cathedral Valley Overlook in Capitol Reef NP, Utah, this August. I was just telling Ben that you can camp just a few steps from this viewpoint. A bit later the rain came my way and fell light and steady throughout dinnertime in my van. Relaxing and comfy, too.

I haven't camped at that view, but I have shot from there. That is certainly an awesome spot to have.

I really like this with the rain and storm, it adds an awesome element to the shot.

Excellent, Jeffrey. Superb view with great rocky features and the rain storm over the backdrop certainly adds to the dramatic effect. Must have been an awesome camp site!

You can't miss it, Ben. One of the few signed turns off the road. Easily seen on the map, too.

Great shot from a familiar spot. It's a long trek to get to that little piece of real estate.

Once I broke trail up the switchbacks through a new snowfall. That was a scary and memorable experience.

yes, I know the turn and even have an image from there, just from a spot that i suspect is to the east of the parking area, and this looks to be from the north west of the parking area.
