This last fall I went up to Owl Creek Pass to shoot Chimney Rock in SW Colorado. There was some nice clouds, perhaps a bit too thick. The moon was in and out of the shot as the clouds were pretty fast moving and it was often covered. As the sun was setting, Chimney Rock was in shadow as the sun was being blocked to the west, but slowly the background clouds started taking on some subtle color which was pretty exciting. Then suddenly Chimney Rock was lit up with this really sweet light and color. It was pretty exciting to see.
It's always such a joy when the sun has been blocked but pokes out just at the last minute.
