Chowing Down at the Royal Gorge

This is from a few mornings ago at the Royal Gorge in Colorado. It's a gorge and not a canyon, and it's pretty impressive. It's well known for the bridge that crosses it, though my shots of it will be in another thread.

It was freezing out at 16 degrees, and oddly there was no one else there, so it was nice to be able to freely roam around the edges of the gorge. This is from sunrise or pre sunrise, it was hard to tell for sure since the sun was hidden behind some peaks.

All comments are welcome,

Jim

I like the winding river reflection at the bottom of the gorge as it drags my eyes off to the end of the gorge and the early morning light. Distinctly looks a bit on the crisp side and likely comes with a stiff updraft at the overlook you shot this from.

Hey Jim,

That does look quite crispy! The balance between the snow on the left and right is a good side show to the river leading up to the sunrise.

Thanks Alan! It did balance out well. Fortunately it wasn't windy that morning though I can imagine at times it would get windy in that gorge.

My Wife loves this! Oh-I like it too. The colors are really nice Jim. Have you been to the Black Canyon? Incredible place, but really hard to photograph.

Thanks so much Bill! It's been so long since I had been to the Royal Gorge I wasn't totally sure what to expect.
