Cloudscape

I was scouting a week before full color a couple years back when I saw these clouds develop so I grabbed it. Some think the foreground is a waste but I happen to like this high country grass in fall. Not quite brown yet however. You can see a few red oaks.

I like the effect of the exposure speed on the clouds. What was the shutter speed for this?

The few hints of color in the scene are nice to look around for.....

I love the clouds. I might crop a bit off of the bottom up near the base of the clump of grasses in the middle of the image to accentuate the clouds a bit more.

Hey Ben,

Those clouds are super! Yes, the ground is nothing special, but it's that typical ground cover and it makes for a nice base to the shot. I thought as Doug, perhaps a crop off the bottom?

Thanks Guys, I will try a crop and post it later.

Crazy clouds Ben, the crop helps but it still needs a stronger FG element.
Thanks Zeph, I have always felt this was an almost image, and you help me put my finger on it. The aspen got hit with a fungus so I no longer use this spot.

Wow I love this image! It's one of my favorite things to do now that I learned how to catch movement in the clouds!
