Coastal Cali LIfe

From a day out wandering the coastal hills in California this year...mid week, folks were just out enjoying life, just like the commercials they show on TV. I went Black and White with this one, I liked the removal of color. I also looked at increasing contrast, but felt that it was too much, so I went back to my original edit. All zones expect 9 and 10 are present and accounted for...something I watch for in black and white images, spreading the tonal values out across the whole spectrum.

This looks cool Travis. What's neat along that coast especially north of San Francisco is there are these small little quaint towns that accompany those long stretches of beaches. Even those towns feel like something out of a movie.

I like this and how you processed it. You have just enough light in the dark area's to show detail which helps to balance the composition too.

Thanks Jim. This is actually south of SF, at Fort Funston. But yeah, all those little towns along the coast going north, love them...could spend a lot of time in them. Glad the processing works for you, I know these kinds of images don't really suit everyone's taste and are not likely to ever set IG on fire...but I like them a lot...

The composition and the light gradation from lower left to upper right make this one very compelling. Good job.
Thanks Ben. Not a lot of editing really, mostly just conversion to black and white in LR and a slight lift of the shadows due to exposing to try to keep that faint outline of the far coastal shapes.
