So I had the good fortune to take 2 day trips into the high country of Colorado last week and the colors were really popping. I mean it was hard to know where to point your lens there was color going off everywhere it seemed like. Definitely a great fall season this year.
I usually try not to post this many images in one post, but these 5 are culled from an amazing ~18 keepers I got in 2 days of shooting - an unheard of keeper rate for me. Anyway, I hope they can inspire a few others to go up and enjoy the conditions.
The 1st trip I was a passenger on, for a 4-wheeling trip around the Vail area. Not always able to stop everywhere I would have liked but still plenty to shoot, and being on a 4WD trail definitely got us to some opportunities that would not have been seen from any main road. The weather was forecast to be rainy but the rain mostly held off until we were down off the trail, and we were treated to clouds with some sun, pretty much perfect weather for most of the trip.
This is a detail shot I got that I liked, when the sky was pretty overcast at the beginning of the day, so I left it out of the frame:
Later in the day as we were coming down off the trail we had weather like this, pretty spectacular:
The 2nd trip was a drive along the Peak To Peak Highway with another photographer friend, with some trips down side roads. Once again, the weather was initially thought to be poor but ended up with a very nice mix of clouds and sun.
The 1st image from the 2nd trip was this jaw dropping small stand with dramatic orange tones. It was quite close to the road with lots of cars so I had to crop it a little agressively on the bottom but the color was amazing to see:
The 2nd image is from a stand later in the day as the clouds were getting more aggressive but in this case, the sun had popped out and provided amazing backlight on this stand of Aspen in full color mode:
The last image in this set was from a trip down a side road off the highway, where this wonderful scene came together with amazing trees and some red brush to accentuate things as well:
Once again, apologies for posting so many shots, and thanks for any feedback you might wish to provide.
