Columbine

We finally had a break in the heat wave today. Rained last night & was overcast all morning -- perfect for flowers! Hiked up to Homestead Meadows by Estes Park and the flowers were looking pretty good. Columbines, False Solomon's Seal, roses, alpine balsam root, dodecatheons, lupines, alpine bluebells, astragalus, oenotheras, iris, sticky geranium, Boulder raspberry, delphiniums......

Awesome Monika! Love the look of this and it was perfect weather.

I have read about Homestead Meadows and looked it up, but haven't made it there yet. As soon as I get recovered from this cold I have I am going to take one of the grandkids up there. Hopefully there will still be flowers.

Should still be good for another week. Delphiniums will be gone, I'm pretty sure, & irises will be fading, but there will be other flowers blooming. Hopefully, the meadows will be a colorful palette by then.

Sounds like many of the times you visit your grandkids, you get a cold.

Another beauty, Monika. I wish I was there to capture some of these kinds of images. It is so nice when it's cloudy. You don't have to carry that curtain around.

I lived in Denver during the summer of 1969 and the Mile High Building had a show featuring a photographer by the name of Art Gore. He had an image of a columbine I will never forget.

Thanks, Doug (in more than 1 way). I was carrying the curtain anyway as it was supposed to get sunny at some point. Some other people up there said that it came out, but not where I was........I actually ended up putting on my down shirt as my feet were soaked from being in the tall, wet grass!
