Columbine

One of the frustrating things about the Portland Japanese Gardens is the requirement that you always remain on the path when you have interesting blooms that are begging for a closeup. I learned that my best friend was a telephoto lens for flower macro shots. That allowed me to stay on the allowed paths and still get my flower closeups with the added benefit of a much greater depth of field than I would have with a true macro shot. This a shot of a columbine taken at 330mm.

Beautiful flower and another vote for tele flowers. I shoot flowers while hiking and many times it’s just not feasible to tote my tripod. So go for it... Mike

Nice work Alan! That is a great looking flower, I can't wait to go shoot some of these in the wild again this summer.

Very nice. Love the contrasting colors between the green background and white/pink of the flower.
