In the hazy afternoon back/side

light, maybe with some smoke in the mix.
Back on my trip, on the 15th.
Not the best light I realize, but that's still a spectacular view in the Eastern Sierra!

I love the scene at Convict Lake. I'm not a huge fan of the rocks in almost everyone's foreground. You did a nice job handling the light in this.

Short of waders, how do you eliminate them? I tried to figure that out the last time I was there too.

One option I've seen is heading to the left, including going far enough to be able to gain some elevation. The one I've done is go out on the rocks to the right. Doesn't win any friends from people shooting from the normal spot though...

Hey Barry,

I like what I think you were going for with the foreground. The light in the back really carries this. The rocks I have to agree tend to disrupt more add to the images at Convict. I like walking out on the rocks to the right to shoot, or just about anywhere else around the lake. To the right you can get some nice foreground objects in the image also, so that helps.

I agree, this is a well exposed beautiful scene and my eye is drawn to the distant details and subtle shading. The foreground almost detracts for me. Maybe a 16:9 crop would balance it out?
