Costa Rica Monkey Business

Stunning portraits of these primates and delightful that they pretty much look like they were posing for their shot - and did a very good job at that. Do you have to have any kind of work permit from the local monkey modeling agency to work with their clients or just extra bananas? I love the looped tail in #2.

Very nice work Steve! I am glad you got a chance to share these.

All of them are awesome, but I will pick #3 and 4 as my favorites.

Thanks for the kind words everyone, they were a lot of fun to capture. I have literally thousands more where those came from - over 30,000 images from CR so far this year (47 days total). I'll be there for most of September too, so I have a lot more to post LOL!

@AlanLichty - LOL, I pay them in bananas! In fact, I have a few shots of some squirrel monkeys actually on a banana tree eating bananas I have to process!

These are wonderful, Steve! What kind of monkeys are they? Do they make trouble in the camps? I remember hearing a story of a woman whose purse w/passport in it was stolen by monkeys while at a yoga retreat in Cost Rica. Fortunately, the staff knew where the monkeys hid those kinds of things, so they were able to retrieve it.

Thanks - no, they are accustomed to seeing people, but they aren't too comfortable. I understand they can be troublesome elsewhere though.

Oh, the first and third are squirrel monkeys, the 2nd is a spider monkey, and the last two are white-faced capuchin monkeys
