I really need a winter photo trip-this might take some thought

From a land of asphalt and telephone poles seeing a road that fits into the photo is unique. Thanks for sharing.

Much to like here Alan, the road is a nice touch. Possibly darkening the shadows a smidgen would boost the contrast slightly.

Thanks - but do be forewarned that there is a major set of power lines that run parallel to this road for the whole length of it so you won't be entirely escaping the land you speak of. I did some context aware brush work on this scene to get one pole set out of the image.

You might be right about the shadows - but I just disconnected my hard drives and packed up my laptop to head down to Florence to check out Sweet Creek Falls for the next couple of days. BTW - thanks for the tip on Sweet Creek - I got that from your post

A very nice scene & a reward for the drive. Love the texture of the formation. I imagine that red dirt turns in to a mess when it rains
