Here's another view from the Wave, looking North back in the direction of the trailhead. I was trying to use the swirls in the rock to lead into the scene.
There is definitely an advantage to visiting some of these places in the winter!I took a shot of this same viewpoint when I was at the Wave. In fact, it is posted to the Leica thread in the Alt Lens forum of FM. It seemed like a good idea to shoot from whence I came since I was already very dehydrated and tired from trudging through the loose sand. All I had left for the hike back was a half bottle of water and it was already over 90. I was panicked and only stayed for about 30 minutes to snap as many pics as I could. On the way back, sitting under scrawny tree casting thin slivers of shade, a couple stopped to ask me if I was okay. I'm sure I looked bad but I said yeah anyway, but really, I barely made it back.
I enjoyed this shot, unique shot that one doesn't normally see, can you talk about your wave lottery experience? I took a week off in January hoping to be there each day for the in person lottery, but the govt shut down, and the BLM office was closed. I tried online for many months, but no luck, way too many people. I ended up going to Kanab anyway, so much stuff to see around there. Here's another view from the Wave, looking North back in the direction of the trailhead.
