After weeks of no rain it has finally started and looks as though we will have a couple of weeks of it. Good for the garden, good for waterfalls, good for filling the reservoirs which are unseasonably low. Not so good for us as we are waiting to get the slates in our house replaced, they have been their for 150 years so can't complain. Ken

Most of the skates are perfect, the nails are rusting and the wooden battens that the slates are nailed into are rotten in places. The actual slates are Welsh and will last for many hundreds of years and in our largely pollution free atmosphere may never break down. Our local 12thC church has what looks like original slates. Ken
