The aurora borealis were quite powerful over the weekend. You were able to get the wildest pictures with vivid colors and unreal shapes.

The at first I spent photographing bright arcs and rays. But then the fires calmed down and so did the cameraman.

I took different compositions and didn't even try to capture the whole display. I enjoyed the landscape, I stood for a long time just watching the auroras flickering.

This picture was especially pleasing to the eye. I could even say that this is, in its own way, my best aurora picture. Why?
Well, everything is in harmony. Nothing sticks out too much. The picture depicts the silence of a cold winter night.

Honestly, I've been trying to take this picture since 2016.

Stunning scene - I can see why you feel like this is a serious keeper. Very nice balance of the light in the scene.

Yesterday I read where some airline pilot did a 360º turn in mid flight so the passengers on both sides of the plane could enjoy the view of the aurora.

This is so awesome Matti. What a great display, and this one you posted does seem to have it all, well thought out on your part.

I'm glad that you were able to turn off the camera and just enjoy. Sometimes that's the best. Though I do appreciate you sharing.......
