Driftwood

This old log has been around ever since I started going to Yachats. It is always in a slightly different place as the tides nudge it around. This particular evening it was in an ideal place to get this alignment.

This is from the archives, and reprocessed to avoid the most common comments, but please don't hold back.

CC welcome.

Nice - most of the time this is about as close to a real sunset as you can get along the OR coastline since the sun is just above the off shore marine layer in your image. I like the backlit spray on the left side.

I would be willing to bet that the log has moved more than a little bit in the last year or two. The winter storms since 2015 have had considerably higher waves than the previous decade and most of the shoreline driftwood piles have been drastically redistributed. Beaches near the campgrounds I frequent during the winter months to watch the storms are almost unrecognizable now. Logs like the one in your image and much larger ones are getting tossed about like toothpicks.

It's been a couple years since I have been there, Yachats is a lot further from Salt Lake than Spokane. I hope to get back next summer for a family reunion in Oregon.

Hey Ben,

A nice one here. I really like the timing where you caught that wave splash on the left.

That's great if you will be able to get back there next year. I know I have fond feelings for the Oregon coast, I am sure you miss it.

Thanks Jim. Before I retired, I used to look at real estate along the coast and it was always out of range for me. Then family pulled me to Utah. I am not sorry, but I still need an ocean fix every now and again.
