Hey Doug, glad you like this. All I can figure is being at the right place, at the right timeNice image, Zeph. I am still trying to figure out how the second starburst is made. Do you have any insights?
The thing that is interesting to me is that it is not a reflection. The starburst occurs over a rock in the water and the longest rays extend over other rocks. I am thinking that there is an atmospheric effect going on with cooler air at the surface and warmer air above. I am pretty sure about the colder air near the surface because of the steam coming off of the water. Did you see the second starburst in your viewfinder?Hey Doug, glad you like this. I didn’t see the second starburst at the time. The exposure was 0.5s at f/14 using the Canon 16-35, which is known for its ability to capture starbursts with its 9 blade aperture....The thing that is interesting to me is that it is not a reflection.
