The lighting and composition are just near perfect! Not sure how much room you had for moving around, but the way you positioned the elements in this scene with the way they are lit is just really well done.

Sure looks like Utah sandstone -- looks an awful lot like Taylor Canyon (Moses, Zeus & Aphrodite)
