End Of Summer Night

Hi all.

This is a hot spot for local photographers: Pigeon Point Light House. It's just an hour from the most cities with relatively dark night, whenever there is a clear night, photographers would swarm around the site.

I have been to this location many times, in the past I have tried various compositions but was never too satisfied, until two weeks ago.

I placed the Milky Way in the center with lighthouse on the 1/3 grid, getting close to the edge of the cliff to add foreground elements.

Alan, in the past I didn't pay attention to the tide chart & wind direction, when there is little to no wind, the water is much calmer for long exposure.

Jim, you might want to make a stop there, weather permitting. The Pigeon Point Light House went through a very long restoration, San Mateo County tried to make the place more beauitful even just for the historical reason. Even not for night photography, it's a nice sight during the day, being 152ft tall, it's decent size.

Jameel, thanks. I am changing my post processing style for the nightscape photos, as before the colors were more truist view, now I tune it to a slightly bluish tone.
